Welcome to Year 5!

This year we have three wonderful teachers helping us to learn:

  • Ms Bryan – Neptune
  • Miss Bovell – Jupiter
  • Ms Ofosuhene – Mercury

Our wonderful teaching assistants are:

  • Mrs Pomills
  • Miss Nin
  • Ms Ssali

This year we will be studying a range of topics in our subjects: Crime and punishment in History and rain forests  in Geography. Some of the topics we will be looking at in Science are, Materials, Forces and Space. We also have curriculum-related trips to look forward to – how exciting!

Please remember to keep your PE kit in school. You should have: a white t-shirt, a pair of black shorts and black plimsolls. Take it home at the end of the half term.

Homework
Remember that you should be reading every day for at least 20 minutes on Bug Club. Your teacher will be checking daily and awarding dojos for all your green answers! In addition, remember to read your library book or Starbook/teacher’s choice book.

Each week, you will receive your spellings from your class teacher. Spend some time practising how to spell them and trying to use them in full sentences.

Homework for grammar and maths will also be set on Education City. This website is so much fun; take some time to explore the other features such as times table games and Science and language activities.

See if you can top your class, year group or even school leader board on TTRockstars. Keep practising and you will be a Rock Hero soon enough! Don’t forget to do your three-weekly number star homework. Remember to complete you homework project each half term for a choice to get dojos and a certificate.
