Multiplicative Reasoning

  • count in multiples of 6, 7, 9, 25 and 1000
  • recall multiplication and division facts for multiplication

tables up to 12 × 12

  • use place value, known and derived facts to multiply

and divide mentally, including: multiplying by 0 and 1;

dividing by 1; multiplying together three numbers

  • recognise and use factor pairs and commutativity in

mental calculations

  • solve problems involving multiplying and adding,

including using the distributive law to multiply two

digit numbers by one digit, integer scaling and harder

correspondence problems such as n objects are

connected to m objects.



In-depth study of Boudicca and the Celtic people. Children will also understand the causes for her revolt.

To use chronology to plot dates in history. §

Autumn 2 : Children study the lives of Roman soldiers. Investigating tactics and armoury.

To investigate armour and weaponry used using sources and interpretations.

To understand the tactics used by the Roman army.

Animals including Humans – Children will gain a more in depth knowledge of  how their bodies work and animals.

To identify the different types of teeth.

To know the function and parts of the digestive system.

To understand the terms Prey, predator and consumer.

To understand the parts of a food chain/web.


Living things and their habitats.

To be able to identify plants and animals that might live in a range of habitats.

To identify the life processes

To be able to classify living things based on their characteristics.

To be able to use and create classification keys.

To recognise that environments can change and that this can sometimes pose dangers to living things



Celtic Brooches – Linked with History, children will design and then make a brooch incorporating Celtic patterns.

To plan and design an Art piece.

To use a variety of materials and media.

To evaluate my piece after completion.


Roman Mosaics – Linked with History, children will design their own mosaic using contrasting colours.

To plan and design my art piece.

To understand the colour wheel and contrasting colours.



1. Information texts (2 Weeks)

Overview: Children establish and use the features of this text type.

Writing opportunities:  Roman soldier stimulus and aspect of Roman life.

2.. Fiction text MBSW (3 Weeks).

Overview: Children explore a class narrative.

Writing opportunities: Persuasive writing, diary entry.

3. Christmas Fiction –The Snow Queen (2 Weeks)

Overview:  children will engage with traditional and cultural stories..

Writing opportunities: Story writing and descriptive writing.



We are software developers.

Children will use the coding programme Scratch to create a coded underwater sea game.




Children will participate and create scoring and invasion games.

A unit based on tackling and understanding discrimination.



“Keeping Safe”

Children learn how to keep safe at home and around public transport.
